Mr. Michael Bann has long been a practitioner of the exploration
of the darker regions of the mind. Roughly a decade ago he crafted
a musical entity known as Advent Sleep. A modern rock ensemble creating
gothic tinged melodic enticements, the act would go on to have several
compositions being featured on numerous releases which would reach
all four corners of the globe. A review of their debut CD "Egos
and Eros" sums it up splendidly..
"“If Baudelaire had
been fond of whiskey, he might have been a precursor to Advent Sleep.
Evil, demented, and a hell of a lot of fun, Egos & Eros is a
shameless celebration of warped passions in the key of rock and
roll. But there’s no pseudo-Satanic schlock here, just a mischievous
revelry in the inventiveness of humanity’s psychic underbelly,
and catchy riffs by the coffin-full. Advent Sleep are definitely
the undeath of the party.” - ROCKBAND.COM " We
could not have said it better. The music of Advent Sleep is to this
day available on Apple's I-Tunes as well as numerous other electro-ether-
vendors. The music track on our video-trailer
is actually the piece "Death" from the debut LP of Advent
Sleep.
Interestingly
the music of Advent Sleep would itself become a component in the
art of others and ironically through this Michael has in a sense
already enjoyed a presence in literary works.... for your consideration,
the 1998 DC Vertigo title "The Girl Who Would Be Death"
penned by Caitlin
Keirnan featured in the first issues artwork - a street
scene which shows a poster for a club show featuring Advent Sleep.
(Kiernan has been hired to write the novelization
for the forthcoming Beowulf film scripted by Neil Gaiman and Roger
Avary)
