The Emporium Of Curious Goods is the largest New Age shop in N.
E. Pa.! It has a large Wiccan and alternative lifestyle patronage,
as well as tourists. Jim Thorpe, Pa. is a small Swiss-like Victorian
tourist town nestled in the Pocono Mts. The famous Native American
athelete, Jim Thorpe is buried there, hence the name of the town!
The town was featured in the 1960's blockbuster movie, "The
Molly McGuires" as well as a national TV commercial and a made
for TV movie, "You Can't Go Home Again"! It is not unusual
to see famous movie or TV stars walking the streets. Jim Thorpe,
Pa., is home to the famous "handprint on the wall" in
a Victorian jail cell (featured in many TV specials on ghosts) ,
and is home to the mansion of Victorian millionaire, Asa Packer,
founder of the Lehigh Valley Railroad and Lehigh University, among
many other institutions!
The Emporium features a large selection of incense, oils, herbs,
gargoyles, God/Goddess statues, plus Hindu and Egyptian Gods/Goddesses,
Jewish items and Catholic statues and saints. Because of the owners
background in comparative religion, many major world religions are
represented herein. The shop carries about a 500 book selection on
most metaphysical subjects. Also, you can purchase your athame or
coven sword from a huge inventory of these objects. You will always
be in fashion when you visit our clothing center where we feature
Gothic, Wiccan, Victorian, Ren. Faire clothing plus a selection
of capes and robes.
The shop was featured on TLC TV's, "A Dating Story",
which will be in reruns for the next few years!
If your lucky, you may even catch a glimpse of the ghost cat who
roams its' rooms! Children, in particular, seem to see it!
